Breakaway Horse Riders Club, Mackay Charity Ride

For 23 years, the Breakaway Horse Riders Club, together with the Dows Creek Hall Committee, has proudly hosted their annual charity ride—each year supporting a different chosen charity. In 2025, they rode with purpose to raise funds for Pankind, embracing the purple theme with incredible community spirit. With a record turnout of 175 riders, the event raised over $24,000, to be shared between Pankind, the Heart Foundation, and the Mackay Oncology Unit. We’re so grateful for their continued support and dedication.

Wish You Were Here

In May 2025, the Wish You Were Here team completed a powerful 100km trek across Crete, Greece - a route rich in history and symbolic of the relentless journey faced by those impacted by pancreatic cancer. Inspired by personal loss, survival, and a deep frustration with the lack of awareness and funding, this dedicated group of Australians set out to honour loved ones and drive change. Raising over $45,000 for Pankind, to help fund life-saving research.

Zachary Bradford

When Zac lost his father to pancreatic cancer in 2023, running became more than a passion — it became a lifeline. Just two weeks after his dad passed, Zac ran his first marathon in his honour. Since then, he’s continued to show up through grief, setbacks, and milestones — completing the Gold Coast Marathon again in 2024 with a personal best under 3 hours, and now conquering London, Gold Coast, and Sydney marathons in 2025.

I wanted to do something challenging and outside my comfort zone as a personal goal for my own well-being. I hadn’t planned to raise funds, but when my uncle passed away suddenly, just after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, it deeply moved me. As a family, we felt that supporting Pankind was the most meaningful way to honour him. I’m far from an experienced runner, but I do enjoy it. This will be my second marathon and I’ve committed to months of training!

Raising funds in memory of my sister Rachel, who was diagnosed in March 23, and lost her battle in Aug 23. Doing this as part of my Offshore yacht race from Melbourne to Osaka, during which I plan to spread some of Rachel's ashes. I will share those moments with family and friends via live stream/reel - thanks to technology of StarLink. The pic is the yacht I am racing on, and it will fly the PanKind logo on this trip :)

I'm raising funds in honour of my beautiful wife Linda through my Christmas Lights display to help find a curte for this insiduous disease.
