In Loving Memory Of
John Frederick Millgate
To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die
Please make a donation in memory of John
This tribute page has been created in honour of my father John, who sadly passed away in Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth, Western Australia on Sunday December 8th 2024 aged 82 after a brave battle against pancreatic cancer. But it wasn't just me who lost him. My mum lost her husband of 60 years, my sister lost her dad, my wife and sister's husband both lost their father-in-law, his five grandkids lost their grandpop, my uncle lost his younger brother, the list goes on. The battle against any kind of cancer can be daunting. However the speed of his decline towards the end of his life was truly terrifying. We were told at a family meeting with the oncologist on Monday morning that he had two or three months left with us. By the following Sunday afternoon he was gone.Â
Pancreatic cancer is the 4th biggest cancer killer in Australia in 2024. It is extremely aggressive with a five-year survival rate of just 13%. Only 3 out of 10 people (37%) will survive one year after diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
This tribute page has been created by us, John's family, as a way of asking you for your support and, if possible, making a donation in John's memory.Â
Your support will help improve outcomes for people impacted by pancreatic cancer by enabling PanKind, The Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation to investing in cutting edge medical research and much needed patient support programs.
Thank you.
Rest in peace, Dad x
